[718] Which phenomena (dhammā) are dissociated (vippayutta) from taints (āsava) but subject to taints (sāsava)? Those phenomena which are dissociated from those phenomena [i.e., from the taints] but are subject to taints: wholesome (kusala), unwholesome (akusala), and indeterminate (abyākata) phenomena pertaining to the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the form sphere (rūpāvacara), and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara) — the aggregate of form (rūpakkhandha) … the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha). These phenomena are dissociated from taints but subject to taints.
Which phenomena are dissociated from taints and not subject to taints (anāsava)? The paths (magga) that are not included (apariyāpanna), the fruits of the paths (maggaphala), and the unconditioned element (asaṅkhatā dhātu) — these phenomena are dissociated from taints and not subject to taints.
