Atthuddhārakaṇda

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Dhammasaṅgaṇī · Vol. 34 · Section 917

[917] Which phenomena (dhammā) are both taints (āsava) and associated with taints? Wherein two or three taints arise together — these phenomena are both taints and associated with taints. Which phenomena are associated with taints but not taints? Setting aside the taints, the remaining unwholesome (akusala) — these phenomena are associated with taints but not taints. Phenomena dissociated from taints should not be said to be either "both taints and associated with taints" or "associated with taints but not taints."
