[918] Which phenomena (dhammā) are dissociated from taints (āsava-vippayutta) but subject to taints (sāsava)? The delusion (moha) arisen in the two arisings of mind (cittuppāda) accompanied by grief (domanassa), delusion accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā), delusion accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca); the wholesome in the three planes (bhūmi); the resultant (vipāka) in the three planes; the functional indeterminate (kiriyābyākata) in the three planes; and all form (rūpa) — these phenomena are dissociated from taints but subject to taints.
Which phenomena are dissociated from taints and not subject to taints (anāsava)? The four paths (magga) that are unincluded (apariyāpanna), the four fruits of asceticism (sāmaññaphala), and Nibbāna — these phenomena are dissociated from taints and not subject to taints.
Phenomena associated with taints (āsava-sampayutta) should not be said to be either "dissociated from taints but subject to taints" or "dissociated from taints and not subject to taints."
