[788] Which phenomena (dhammā) are both clingings (upādāna) and objects of clinging (upādāniya)?

Whatever phenomena are objects of clinging for those [clinging] phenomena — setting those phenomena [i.e., the clingings themselves] aside — the remaining phenomena accompanied by taints (sāsava), wholesome, unwholesome, and indeterminate, belonging to the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the form sphere (rūpāvacara), and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): the aggregate of form (rūpakkhandha) … the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha) — these phenomena are objects of clinging but not clingings.
