[915] Which phenomena (dhammā) are associated with taints (āsava)?
The two arisings of mind (cittuppāda) accompanied by grief (domanassa) — excluding the delusion (moha) arisen herein — and, excluding the delusion accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā) and the delusion accompanied by restlessness (uddhacca), the remaining unwholesome (akusala): these phenomena are associated with taints.

The delusion arisen in the two arisings of mind accompanied by grief; the delusion accompanied by doubt; the delusion accompanied by restlessness; the wholesome (kusala) in the four planes (bhūmi); the resultant (vipāka) in the four planes; the functional indeterminate (kiriyā-abyākata) in the three planes; and form (rūpa) and Nibbāna: these phenomena are dissociated from taints.
