[934] Which phenomena (dhammā) are both hindrances (nīvaraṇa) and favorable to the hindrances (nīvaraṇiya)?
Those same hindrances are both hindrances and favorable to the hindrances.
Which phenomena are favorable to the hindrances but not hindrances?
Setting aside the hindrances, the remaining unwholesome (akusala); the wholesome (kusala) in the three planes (bhūmi); the resultant (vipāka) in the three planes; the functional indeterminate (kiriyābyākata) in the three planes; and all form (rūpa) — these phenomena are favorable to the hindrances but not hindrances.
Phenomena that are not favorable to the hindrances (anīvaraṇiya) should not be said to be either "both hindrances and favorable to the hindrances" or "favorable to the hindrances but not hindrances."
