[936] Which phenomena (dhammā) are dissociated from hindrances (nīvaraṇa-vippayutta) but conducive to hindrances (nīvaraṇiya)?
The wholesome (kusala) in the three planes (bhūmi), the resultant (vipāka) in the three planes, the functional indeterminate (kiriyābyākata) in the three planes, and all form (rūpa) — these phenomena are dissociated from hindrances but conducive to hindrances.
Which phenomena are dissociated from hindrances and not conducive to hindrances?
The four paths (magga), which are not included [in the three planes] (apariyāpanna), the four fruits of the monkhood (sāmaññaphala), and Nibbāna — these phenomena are dissociated from hindrances and not conducive to hindrances.
Phenomena associated with hindrances (nīvaraṇa-sampayutta) should not be said to be either "dissociated from hindrances but conducive to hindrances" or "dissociated from hindrances and not conducive to hindrances."
