[104] Eleven sense bases (āyatana) have a condition (sappaccaya); the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) may have a condition, may be without a condition (appaccaya). Eleven sense bases are conditioned (saṅkhata); the dhamma base may be conditioned, may be unconditioned (asaṅkhata). Eleven sense bases are invisible (anidassana); the form base (rūpāyatana) is visible (sanidassana). Ten sense bases are impinging (sappaṭigha); two sense bases are non-impinging (appaṭigha). Ten sense bases are form (rūpa); the mind base (manāyatana) is formless (arūpa); the dhamma base may be form, may be formless. Ten sense bases are mundane (lokiya); two sense bases may be mundane, may be supramundane (lokuttara). They are cognizable (viññeyya) by some [consciousness], not cognizable by some.
