[140] Ten elements (dhātu) are without an object (anārammaṇa); seven elements have an object (sārammaṇa); the dhamma element (dhammadhātu) may have an object or may be without an object. Eleven elements are not mind (citta); seven elements are mind. Seventeen elements are not mental factors (acetasika); the dhamma element may be a mental factor (cetasika) or may not be a mental factor. Ten elements are dissociated from mind (cittavippayutta); the dhamma element may be associated with mind (cittasampayutta) or may be dissociated from mind; seven elements cannot be said to be either associated with mind or dissociated from mind. Ten elements are not conjoined with mind (cittavisaṃsaṭṭha); the dhamma element may be conjoined with mind (cittasaṃsaṭṭha) or may not be conjoined with mind; seven elements cannot be said to be either conjoined with mind or not conjoined with mind. Twelve elements are not originated by mind (no cittasamuṭṭhāna); six elements may be originated by mind or may not be originated by mind. Seventeen elements are not co-existent with mind (no cittasahabhū); the dhamma element may be co-existent with mind or may not be co-existent with mind. Seventeen elements do not accompany mind (no cittānuparivatti); the dhamma element may accompany mind or may not accompany mind. Seventeen elements are not conjoined with and originated by mind (no cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhāna); the dhamma element may be conjoined with and originated by mind or may not be conjoined with and originated by mind. Seventeen elements are not conjoined with, originated by, and co-existent with mind (no cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhānasahabhū); the dhamma element may be conjoined with, originated by, and co-existent with mind, or may not be conjoined with, originated by, and co-existent with mind. Seventeen elements are not conjoined with, originated by, and accompanying mind (no cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhānānuparivatti); the dhamma element may be conjoined with, originated by, and accompanying mind, or may not be conjoined with, originated by, and accompanying mind. Twelve elements are internal (ajjhattika); six elements are external (bāhira). Nine elements are derived (upādā); eight elements are not derived (nupādā); the dhamma element may be derived or may not be derived. Ten elements are clung-to (upādinna); the sound element (saddadhātu) is not clung-to (anupādinna); seven elements may be clung-to or may not be clung-to.
