[251] Seven faculties (indriya) are without an object (anārammaṇa); fourteen faculties have an object (sārammaṇa); the life faculty (jīvitindriya) may have an object, may be without an object. Twenty-one faculties are not mind (citta); the mind faculty (manindriya) is mind. Thirteen faculties are mental factors (cetasika); eight faculties are not mental factors (acetasika); the life faculty may be a mental factor, may not be a mental factor. Thirteen faculties are associated with mind (cittasampayutta); seven faculties are dissociated from mind (cittavippayutta); the life faculty may be associated with mind, may be dissociated from mind; the mind faculty should not be said either to be associated with mind or to be dissociated from mind. Thirteen faculties are conjoined with mind (cittasaṃsaṭṭha); seven faculties are not conjoined with mind (cittavisaṃsaṭṭha); the life faculty may be conjoined with mind, may be not conjoined with mind; the mind faculty should not be said either to be conjoined with mind or to be not conjoined with mind. Thirteen faculties are originated by mind (cittasamuṭṭhāna); eight faculties are not originated by mind; the life faculty may be originated by mind, may not be originated by mind. Thirteen faculties are co-existent with mind (cittasahabhū); eight faculties are not co-existent with mind; the life faculty may be co-existent with mind, may not be co-existent with mind. Thirteen faculties accompany mind (cittānuparivatti); eight faculties do not accompany mind; the life faculty may accompany mind, may not accompany mind. Thirteen faculties are conjoined with and originated by mind (cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhāna); eight faculties are not conjoined with and originated by mind; the life faculty may be conjoined with and originated by mind, may not be conjoined with and originated by mind. Thirteen faculties are conjoined with, originated by, and co-existent with mind (cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhānasahabhū); eight faculties are not conjoined with, originated by, and co-existent with mind; the life faculty may be conjoined with, originated by, and co-existent with mind, may not be conjoined with, originated by, and co-existent with mind. Thirteen faculties are conjoined with, originated by, and accompanying mind (cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhānānuparivatti); eight faculties are not conjoined with, originated by, and accompanying mind; the life faculty may be conjoined with, originated by, and accompanying mind, may not be conjoined with, originated by, and accompanying mind. Six faculties are internal (ajjhattika); sixteen faculties are external (bāhira). Seven faculties are derived (upādā); fourteen faculties are not derived; the life faculty may be derived, may not be derived. Nine faculties are clung-to (upādinna); four faculties are not clung-to (anupādinna); nine faculties may be clung-to, may not be clung-to.
