[511] "Success (iddhi)" means: that which is the success, thorough success (samiddhi), succeeding (ijjhanā), succeeding fully (samijjhanā), gain (lābha), obtainment (paṭilābha), attainment (patti), full attainment (sampatti), touching (phusanā), realization (sacchikiriyā), and entering upon (upasampadā) of those phenomena (dhammā). "Basis of success (iddhipāda)" means: the aggregate of feeling (vedanākkhandha), the aggregate of perception (saññākkhandha), the aggregate of volitional formations (saṅkhārakkhandha), and the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha) of one who is thus (tathābhūta). "Develops the basis of success" means: he practises, develops, and makes much of those phenomena; therefore it is said, "he develops the basis of success."
