The Tipiṭaka in Three Languages

[524] "Success (iddhi)" means: that which is the success, full success, succeeding, fully succeeding, gain, acquisition, reaching, full reaching, touching, realization, attainment of those phenomena (dhammā). "Basis of success (iddhipāda)" means: the contact (phassa) … exertion (paggāha), non-distraction (avikkhepa) of one who has become thus (tathābhūta). "He develops the basis of success" means: he practises (āsevati), develops (bhāveti), makes much of (bahulīkaroti) those phenomena. Therefore it is said, "he develops the basis of success."
