[539] [The four bases of success (iddhipāda)] are with conditions (sappaccayā); conditioned (saṅkhatā); invisible (anidassanā); non-impinging (appaṭighā); formless (arūpā); supramundane (lokuttarā); cognizable in one way (kenaci viññeyyā), not cognizable in another (kenaci na viññeyyā). They are not taints (no āsavā); they are not subject to taints (anāsavā); they are dissociated from taints (āsavavippayuttā). They should not be said to be either "both taints and subject to taints" or "subject to taints but not taints"; they should not be said to be either "both taints and associated with taints" or "associated with taints but not taints"; they are dissociated from taints and not subject to taints (āsavavippayutta-anāsavā). They are not fetters (no saññojanā) … They are not ties (no ganthā) … They are not floods (no oghā) … They are not bonds (no yogā) … They are not hindrances (no nīvaraṇā) … They are not misapprehensions (no parāmāsā) …
