[716] Here, on the occasion when a bhikkhu develops the path for rebirth in the form sphere (rūpūpapatti) and enters and dwells in the second jhāna — without thought-conception (avitakka), with discursive thought (vicāra) only, with rapture (pīti) and pleasure (sukha) born of seclusion (vivekaja) — on the earth kasiṇa (paṭhavīkasiṇa), on that occasion there is four-factored jhāna: discursive thought, rapture, pleasure, one-pointedness (ekaggatā) of mind (citta). This is called the second jhāna. The remaining phenomena (dhammā) are associated with the jhāna.
