[94] Four aggregates (khandhā) are not clinging (upādāna); the aggregate of volitional formations (saṅkhārakkhandha) is sometimes clinging, sometimes not clinging. The aggregate of form (rūpakkhandha) is subject to clinging (upādāniya); four aggregates are sometimes subject to clinging, sometimes not subject to clinging (anupādāniya). The aggregate of form is dissociated from clinging (upādānavippayutta); four aggregates are sometimes associated with clinging (upādānasampayutta), sometimes dissociated from clinging. The aggregate of form should not be said to be 'both clinging and subject to clinging'; it is subject to clinging but not clinging. Three aggregates should not be said to be 'both clinging and subject to clinging'; they are sometimes subject to clinging but not clinging, and sometimes should not be said to be 'subject to clinging but not clinging'. The aggregate of volitional formations is sometimes both clinging and subject to clinging, sometimes subject to clinging but not clinging, and sometimes should not be said to be either 'both clinging and subject to clinging' or 'subject to clinging but not clinging'. The aggregate of form should not be said to be either 'both clinging and associated with clinging' or 'associated with clinging but not clinging'. Three aggregates should not be said to be 'both clinging and associated with clinging'; they are sometimes associated with clinging but not clinging, and sometimes should not be said to be 'associated with clinging but not clinging'. The aggregate of volitional formations is sometimes both clinging and associated with clinging, sometimes associated with clinging but not clinging, and sometimes should not be said to be either 'both clinging and associated with clinging' or 'associated with clinging but not clinging'. The aggregate of form is dissociated from clinging but subject to clinging; four aggregates are sometimes dissociated from clinging but subject to clinging, sometimes dissociated from clinging and not subject to clinging, and sometimes should not be said to be either 'dissociated from clinging but subject to clinging' or 'dissociated from clinging and not subject to clinging'.
