[516] S.: Is there lack of knowledge (aññāṇa) in an Arahant?
P.: Yes.
S.: Was it not said by the Blessed One: "Bhikkhus, I say that the destruction of the taints (āsava) is for one who knows, for one who sees; not for one who does not know, not for one who does not see. And for one knowing what, bhikkhus, for one seeing what, does the destruction of the taints come about? 'Such is form (rūpa), such is the origin of form, such is the passing away of form; such is feeling (vedanā) … such is perception (saññā) … such are volitional formations (saṅkhārā) … such is consciousness (viññāṇa), such is the origin of consciousness, such is the passing away of consciousness' — for one knowing thus, bhikkhus, for one seeing thus, the destruction of the taints comes about"? Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
P.: Yes.
S.: Then indeed it should not be said that there is lack of knowledge in an Arahant.
