[517] [Sakavādin:] Is there non-knowledge (aññāṇa) in an Arahant?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[Sakavādin:] Was it not said by the Blessed One: "Bhikkhus, I say that the destruction of the taints (āsava) is for one who knows, for one who sees; not for one who does not know, not for one who does not see. And for one who knows what, bhikkhus, for one who sees what, does the destruction of the taints come to be? For one who knows, for one who sees, 'This is suffering (dukkha),' bhikkhus, the destruction of the taints comes to be; for one who knows, for one who sees, 'This is the origin of suffering,' the destruction of the taints comes to be; for one who knows, for one who sees, 'This is the cessation of suffering,' the destruction of the taints comes to be; for one who knows, for one who sees, 'This is the way of practice leading to the cessation of suffering,' the destruction of the taints comes to be. It is for one who knows thus, bhikkhus, for one who sees thus, that the destruction of the taints comes to be"? Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[Sakavādin:] Then indeed it should not be said: "There is non-knowledge in an Arahant."
