[1022] One who fully understood the truth of suffering (dukkha-sacca) — will he abandon the truth of origin (samudaya-sacca)?
No.
Or rather, one who will abandon the truth of origin — did he fully understand the truth of suffering?
No.
One who did not fully understand the truth of suffering — will he not abandon the truth of origin?
Those who will obtain the path (magga) did not fully understand the truth of suffering, but it is not the case that they will not abandon the truth of origin. The one endowed with the supreme path (aggamagga-samaṅgī) and those ordinary persons (puthujjanā) who will not obtain the path — they did not fully understand the truth of suffering, and they will not abandon the truth of origin.
Or rather, one who will not abandon the truth of origin — did he not fully understand the truth of suffering?
The Arahant (arahā) will not abandon the truth of origin, but it is not the case that he did not fully understand the truth of suffering. The one endowed with the supreme path and those ordinary persons who will not obtain the path — they will not abandon the truth of origin, and they did not fully understand the truth of suffering.
