Suddhasaṅkhāravāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 1198

[1198] "For whom the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) will not arise, will the mental formation (cittasaṅkhāra) of that one not cease?" For those at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the final mind (pacchimacitta) that is without thought-conception (vitakka) and without discursive thought (vicāra), and for those immediately after whose mind (citta) the final mind without thought-conception and without discursive thought will arise — for these the verbal formation will not arise, but it is not the case that the mental formation of these will not cease. At the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the final mind, for these both the verbal formation will not arise and the mental formation will not cease. "Or rather, for whom the mental formation …?" — Yes (āmantā).
