[1140] For whomever, wherever, verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) will not cease — will mental formation (cittasaṅkhāra) not cease for that one there?
At the moment of the arising of the final mind (pacchimacitta) that is without thought and examination (avitakka-avicāra); for those immediately after whose mind (citta) the final mind without thought and examination will arise; and for those who have attained the second jhāna, the third jhāna, the fourth jhāna — verbal formation will not cease for them there, but it is not the case that mental formation will not cease for them there. At the moment of the dissolution of the final mind, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for them there, verbal formation will not cease and mental formation also will not cease.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, mental formation will not cease — will verbal formation not cease for that one there?
