[1168] For whomever, wherever, the verbal formation (vacīsaṅkhāra) does not cease — for that one, there, will the mental formation (cittasaṅkhāra) not cease?
For all [beings] at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind (citta), and at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of a mind devoid of thought-conception and discursive thought (vitakka-vicāra) — for them there the verbal formation does not cease, but it is not the case that for them there the mental formation will not cease. At the moment of dissolution of the final mind (pacchimacitta) without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for them there the verbal formation does not cease, and the mental formation will not cease.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the mental formation will not cease — for that one, there, does the verbal formation not cease?
At the moment of dissolution of the final mind with thought-conception and with discursive thought — for them there the mental formation will not cease, but it is not the case that for them there the verbal formation does not cease. At the moment of dissolution of the final mind without thought-conception and without discursive thought, and for non-percipient beings — for them there the mental formation will not cease, and the verbal formation does not cease.
