For three persons — in two feelings (vedanā) in the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu), in the form element (rūpadhātu), and in the formless element (arūpadhātu) — the latent tendency of conceit lies latent for them there, but the latent tendency of doubt does not lie latent for them there. For the ordinary person (puthujjana) — in two feelings in the sense-sphere element, in the form element, and in the formless element — both the latent tendency of conceit and the latent tendency of doubt lie latent for him there.
Or, for whomever and wherever the latent tendency of doubt lies latent, does the latent tendency of conceit lie latent for him there?
For the ordinary person — in painful feeling (dukkhā vedanā) — the latent tendency of doubt lies latent for him there, but the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent for him there.
