[1268] Where the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya) does not lie latent, does the latent tendency of views (diṭṭhānusaya) … the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya) not lie latent there? In painful feeling (dukkhā vedanā): here the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent, but it is not the case that the latent tendency of doubt does not lie latent there. In the unincluded (apariyāpanna): here the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent, and the latent tendency of doubt does not lie latent. Or rather, where the latent tendency of doubt does not lie latent, does the latent tendency of conceit not lie latent there? Yes (āmantā). Where the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent, does the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) not lie latent there? Yes. Or rather, where the latent tendency of lust for existence does not lie latent, does the latent tendency of conceit not lie latent there? In the two feelings in the sensual-desire element (kāmadhātu): here the latent tendency of lust for existence does not lie latent, but it is not the case that the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent there. In painful feeling and in the unincluded: here the latent tendency of lust for existence does not lie latent, and the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent. Where the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent, does the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) not lie latent there? In painful feeling: here the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent, but it is not the case that the latent tendency of ignorance does not lie latent there. In the unincluded: here the latent tendency of conceit does not lie latent, and the latent tendency of ignorance does not lie latent. Or rather, where the latent tendency of ignorance does not lie latent, does the latent tendency of conceit not lie latent there? Yes.
