[1522] For whomever, wherever, the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya) has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) been abandoned by that one there?
For three persons, in the three feelings (vedanā) in the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu), the latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned by them there; the latent tendency of lust for existence should not be said to be either abandoned or not abandoned. For those same persons, in the form element (rūpadhātu) and in the formless element (arūpadhātu), the latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned by them there, but the latent tendency of lust for existence has not been abandoned by them there. For the Arahant, in the three feelings in the sense-sphere element, the latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned by him there; the latent tendency of lust for existence should not be said to be either abandoned or not abandoned. For that same person, in the form element and in the formless element, the latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned by him there and the latent tendency of lust for existence has been abandoned.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the latent tendency of lust for existence has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of doubt been abandoned by that one there?

For the Arahant, in the three feelings in the sense-sphere element, in the form element, and in the formless element, the latent tendency of doubt has been abandoned by him there and the latent tendency of ignorance has been abandoned.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the latent tendency of ignorance has been abandoned, has the latent tendency of doubt been abandoned by that one there?
