[1533] For one in whom the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya) is unabandoned, is the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) … the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) unabandoned? Yes. Or, for one in whom the latent tendency of ignorance is unabandoned, is the latent tendency of doubt unabandoned? For three persons the latent tendency of ignorance is unabandoned, but it is not the case that the latent tendency of doubt is unabandoned for them; for the ordinary person (puthujjana) both the latent tendency of ignorance is unabandoned and the latent tendency of doubt is unabandoned.
