[487] For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) has arisen, will the ear base (sotāyatana) arise for that one?
For beings in their final existence (pacchimabhavika), and for those who, having been reborn in the formless realm (arūpa), will attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāyissanti), the eye base has arisen, but the ear base will not arise for them. For the others, both the eye base has arisen and the ear base will arise.
Or rather, for whomever the ear base will arise, has the eye base arisen for that one?
Yes (āmantā).
