[572] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) will not cease, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) not cease for that one there?
Yes.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the nose base will not cease, will the eye base not cease for that one there?
For those of the form sphere (rūpāvacara), the nose base will not cease for them there, but it is not the case that the eye base will not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), and for formless beings (arūpā), the nose base will not cease for them there, and the eye base will not cease.
