[736] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) will not arise, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the eye base will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the nose base will not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence in the form sphere (rūpāvacara), for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), and for formless beings (arūpā), both the eye base will not arise for them there and the nose base will not cease.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the nose base will not cease, will the eye base not arise for that one there?
For beings of the form sphere, the nose base will not cease for them there, but it is not the case that the eye base will not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence in the form sphere, for non-percipient beings, and for formless beings, both the nose base will not cease for them there and the eye base will not arise.
