[682] For whomever, wherever, the nose base (ghānāyatana) has never ceased, will the mind base (manāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For form-sphere beings (rūpāvacara) and formless-sphere beings (arūpāvacara), the nose base has never ceased for them there, but it is not the case that the mind base will not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbanta) in the form sphere or the formless sphere, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), the nose base has never ceased for them there and the mind base will not cease.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the mind base will not cease, has the nose base never ceased for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the mind base will not cease for them there, but it is not the case that the nose base has never ceased for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the form sphere or the formless sphere, and for non-percipient beings, the mind base will not cease for them there and the nose base has never ceased.
