[631] For whomever, wherever, the form base (rūpāyatana) ceases, will the mind-object base (dhammāyatana) cease for that one there?
For those who are attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), the form base ceases for them there, but the mind-object base will not cease for them there. For the others, possessed of form (sarūpaka), who are passing away, both the form base ceases for them there and the mind-object base will cease.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the mind-object base will cease, does the form base cease for that one there?
For all who are being reborn, and for the formless ones (arūpaka) who are passing away, the mind-object base will cease for them there, but the form base does not cease for them there. For those possessed of form who are passing away, both the mind-object base will cease for them there and the form base ceases.
