[885] For whom the truth of suffering (dukkhasacca) does not arise, has the truth of the path (maggasacca) not arisen for him?
For those who have attained comprehension (abhisametāvī) who are passing away, at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind (citta) in the course of existence (pavatta), and in the immaterial plane (arūpa) at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the path and of fruition (phala): for them the truth of suffering does not arise, yet it is not the case that the truth of the path has not arisen for them. For those who have not attained comprehension who are passing away, at the moment of the dissolution of mind in the course of existence: for them the truth of suffering does not arise, and the truth of the path has not arisen.
Or rather, for whom the truth of the path has not arisen, does the truth of suffering not arise for him?
For those who have not attained comprehension who are being reborn, and at the moment of the arising of mind in the course of existence: for them the truth of the path has not arisen, yet it is not the case that the truth of suffering does not arise for them. For those who have not attained comprehension who are passing away, at the moment of the dissolution of mind in the course of existence: for them the truth of the path has not arisen, and the truth of suffering does not arise.
