[1019] "For whomever the nose-faculty (ghānindriya) arises, has the life-faculty (jīvitindriya) arisen for that one?"
"Yes (āmantā)."
"Or else, for whomever the life-faculty has arisen, does the nose-faculty arise for that one?"
"For all those who are passing away and for those without a nose who are being reborn — for them the life-faculty has arisen, but it is not the case that the nose-faculty arises for them. For those possessed of a nose who are being reborn — for them the life-faculty has arisen and the nose-faculty also arises."
