[1049] For whomever, wherever, the nose faculty (ghānindriya) arises, did the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one there? Yes. Or, conversely, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty arose, does the nose faculty arise for that one there? For those passing away from the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for those without a nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn into the sense sphere, and for those of the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and of the formless sphere (arūpāvacara): the equanimity faculty arose for them there, but the nose faculty does not arise for them there. For those possessing a nose (saghānaka) who are being reborn: for them there both the equanimity faculty arose and the nose faculty arises.
