Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1166

[1166] For whom the femininity faculty (itthindriya) does not arise, will the joy faculty (somanassindriya) not arise for that one? For all who are dying, and for non-females who are being reborn: for them the femininity faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the joy faculty will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for beings in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and in the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn with equanimity (upekkhā), will attain final Nibbāna — for these as they are dying: for them the femininity faculty does not arise and the joy faculty will not arise. Or, for whom the joy faculty will not arise, does the femininity faculty not arise for that one? For females in their final existence who are being reborn, and for those females who, having been reborn with equanimity, will attain final Nibbāna — for these as they are being reborn: for them the joy faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that the femininity faculty does not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for beings in their final existence in the form sphere and in the formless sphere, and for those who, having been reborn with equanimity, will attain final Nibbāna — for these as they are dying: for them the joy faculty will not arise and the femininity faculty does not arise.
