[1167] For whomever the femininity faculty (itthindriya) does not arise, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) not arise for that one?
For all who are passing away, and for non-women who are being reborn, the femininity faculty does not arise for them; but it is not the case that the equanimity faculty will not arise for them. For those who are attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn with joy (somanassa), will attain final Nibbāna — for these, as they are passing away, both the femininity faculty does not arise and the equanimity faculty will not arise.
Or, for whomever the equanimity faculty will not arise, does the femininity faculty not arise for that one?
For women in their final existence who are being reborn, and for those women who, having been reborn with joy, will attain final Nibbāna — for these women, as they are being reborn, the equanimity faculty will not arise; but it is not the case that the femininity faculty does not arise for them. For those who are attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence in the form sphere and the formless sphere, and for those who, having been reborn with joy, will attain final Nibbāna — for these, as they are passing away, both the equanimity faculty will not arise and the femininity faculty does not arise.
