[1284] For whomever, wherever, the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arose — will the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arise for that one there?
For those endowed with the final mind (pacchimacitta), for those immediately after whose mind (citta) the final mind associated with equanimity will arise, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā): for them, there, the life faculty arose, but the joy faculty will not arise for them there. For the others, the four-constituent (catuvokāra) and five-constituent (pañcavokāra) beings: for them, there, both the life faculty arose and the joy faculty will arise.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty will arise — did the life faculty arise for that one there?
For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa): for them, there, the joy faculty will arise, but the life faculty did not arise for them there. For the others, the four-constituent and five-constituent beings: for them, there, both the joy faculty will arise and the life faculty arose.
