[1285] For whomever, wherever, the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arose, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one there?
For those endowed with the final mind (pacchimacitta), for those immediately after whose mind the final mind associated (sampayutta) with joy (somanassa) will arise, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): the life faculty arose for them there, but the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there. For the others — those with four aggregates (catuvokāra) and those with five aggregates (pañcavokāra) — for them there both the life faculty arose and the equanimity faculty will arise.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will arise, did the life faculty arise for that one there?
For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa): the equanimity faculty will arise for them there, but the life faculty did not arise for them there. For the others — those with four aggregates and those with five aggregates — for them there both the equanimity faculty will arise and the life faculty arose.
