[1061] For whomever, wherever, the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arises, has the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arisen for that one there?
For those who are being reborn into the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa) and those who are being reborn among the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), the life faculty arises for them there, but the equanimity faculty has not arisen for them there. For the others — those who are being reborn into four-constituent (catuvokāra) and five-constituent (pañcavokāra) existence, and at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind (citta) in the course of existence (pavatti) — both the life faculty arises for them there and the equanimity faculty has arisen.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty has arisen, does the life faculty arise for that one there?
For those who are passing away from four-constituent and five-constituent existence, and at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind in the course of existence, the equanimity faculty has arisen for them there, but the life faculty does not arise for them there. For those who are being reborn into four-constituent and five-constituent existence, and at the moment of arising of mind in the course of existence, both the equanimity faculty has arisen for them there and the life faculty arises.
