[1139] For whomever, wherever, the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arises, will the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arise for that one there?
At the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the final mind (pacchimacitta); at the moment of arising of that mind (citta) immediately after which the final mind associated with equanimity (upekkhā) will arise; and for those being reborn among the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): for these, the life faculty arises there, but the joy faculty will not arise for them there. For the others, who are being reborn into four-constituent existence (catuvokāra) or five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), and at the moment of arising of mind in the course of existence (pavatti): for these, both the life faculty arises there and the joy faculty will arise there.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty will arise, does the life faculty arise for that one there?
For those passing away from four-constituent or five-constituent existence, at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind in the course of existence: for these, the joy faculty will arise there, but the life faculty does not arise for them there. For those being reborn into four-constituent or five-constituent existence, at the moment of arising of mind in the course of existence: for these, both the joy faculty will arise there and the life faculty arises there.
