[1140] For whomever, wherever, the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arises, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one there? At the moment of arising of the final mind (pacchimacitta); at the moment of arising of that mind (citta) in immediate succession to which the final mind associated with joy (somanassa) will arise; and for those being reborn into the non-percipient-being [plane] (asaññasatta) — the life faculty arises for them there, but the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there. For the others — for those being reborn into the four-constituent [plane] (catuvokāra) or the five-constituent [plane] (pañcavokāra), and at the moment of arising of mind in the course of existence (pavatti) — for them there both the life faculty arises and the equanimity faculty will arise.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will arise, does the life faculty arise for that one there? For those passing away from the four-constituent or the five-constituent [plane], at the moment of dissolution of mind in the course of existence — the equanimity faculty will arise for them there, but the life faculty does not arise for them there. For those being reborn into the four-constituent or the five-constituent [plane], at the moment of arising of mind in the course of existence — for them there both the equanimity faculty will arise and the life faculty arises.
