[1345] One who does not fully understand the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) — does he not abandon the grief faculty (domanassindriya)?
The person endowed with the path of non-returning (anāgāmimagga) does not fully understand the eye faculty, but it is not that he does not abandon the grief faculty. Excepting the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons do not fully understand the eye faculty and do not abandon the grief faculty.
Or rather, one who does not abandon the grief faculty — does he not fully understand the eye faculty?
The person endowed with the highest path (aggamagga) does not abandon the grief faculty, but it is not that he does not fully understand the eye faculty. Excepting the two persons endowed with the paths, the remaining persons do not abandon the grief faculty and do not fully understand the eye faculty.
