[254] For whom wholesome phenomena (kusalā dhammā) cease, will unwholesome phenomena (akusalā dhammā) cease for him?
At the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the highest path (aggamagga), and at the moment of dissolution of the mind (citta) immediately after which they will obtain the highest path — their wholesome phenomena cease, but their unwholesome phenomena will not cease. For the others, at the moment of dissolution of the wholesome, both their wholesome phenomena cease and their unwholesome phenomena will cease.
Or, for whom unwholesome phenomena will cease, do wholesome phenomena cease for him?
For all at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind; at the moment of dissolution of a mind dissociated from the wholesome (kusala-vippayutta-citta); for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpannā); and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — their unwholesome phenomena will cease, but their wholesome phenomena do not cease. At the moment of dissolution of the wholesome, both their unwholesome phenomena will cease and their wholesome phenomena cease.
