Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 521

[521] For whom the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arises, does the faith faculty (saddhindriya) arise for that one? For those without roots (ahetuka) who are being reborn, and, in the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) dissociated from faith, the life faculty arises for them, but the faith faculty does not arise for them. For those with roots (sahetuka) who are being reborn, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with faith, for them both the life faculty arises and the faith faculty arises. Or rather, for whom the faith faculty arises, does the life faculty arise for that one? Yes (āmantā).
