[584] For whomever, wherever, the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) arises, does the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arise for that one there?
For males (purisā) being reborn without joy (somanassa), the masculinity faculty arises for them there, but the joy faculty does not arise for them there. For males being reborn with joy, the masculinity faculty arises and the joy faculty arises for them there.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty arises, does the masculinity faculty arise for that one there?
For non-males being reborn with joy, the joy faculty arises for them there, but the masculinity faculty does not arise for them there. For males being reborn with joy, the joy faculty arises and the masculinity faculty arises for them there.
