[514] For whomever the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) arises, does the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arise for that one?
For males (purisā) being reborn without joy (somanassa), the masculinity faculty arises for them, but the joy faculty does not arise for them. For males being reborn with joy, for them both the masculinity faculty arises and the joy faculty arises.
Or rather, for whomever the joy faculty arises, does the masculinity faculty arise for that one?
For non-males (napurisā) being reborn with joy, the joy faculty arises for them, but the masculinity faculty does not arise for them. For males being reborn with joy, for them both the joy faculty arises and the masculinity faculty arises.
