[630] For whomever the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) does not arise, does the joy faculty (somanassindriya) not arise for that one?
For non-males (napurisā) who are being reborn with joy (somanassa), the masculinity faculty does not arise for them, but it is not the case that the joy faculty does not arise for them. For all who are passing away, and for non-males who are being reborn without joy, for them both the masculinity faculty does not arise and the joy faculty does not arise.
Or rather, for whomever the joy faculty does not arise, does the masculinity faculty not arise for that one?
For males who are being reborn without joy, the joy faculty does not arise for them, but it is not the case that the masculinity faculty does not arise for them. For all who are passing away, and for non-males who are being reborn without joy, for them both the joy faculty does not arise and the masculinity faculty does not arise.
