[967] Where the nose faculty (ghānindriya) will not arise, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) not arise there?
In the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), the nose faculty will not arise there, but it is not the case that the equanimity faculty will not arise there. Among the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), there both the nose faculty will not arise and the equanimity faculty will not arise.
Or else, where the equanimity faculty will not arise, will the nose faculty not arise there?
