[996] For whomever, wherever, the femininity faculty (itthindriya) will not arise, will the joy faculty (somanassindriya) not arise for that one there?
For form-sphere beings (rūpāvacara), and for those males who, having passed through some number of existences in that very same state (bhāva) and been reborn with joy (somanassa), will attain final Nibbāna — for them, there, the femininity faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that for them, there, the joy faculty will not arise. For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), for formless beings (arūpa), and for those males who, having passed through some number of existences in that very same state and been reborn with equanimity (upekkhā), will attain final Nibbāna — for them, there, both the femininity faculty will not arise and the joy faculty will not arise.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty will not arise, will the femininity faculty not arise for that one there?
For those females who, having passed through some number of existences in that very same state and been reborn with equanimity, will attain final Nibbāna — for them, there, the joy faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that for them, there, the femininity faculty will not arise. For those in their final existence in five-constituent existence, for non-percipient beings, for formless beings, and for those males who, having passed through some number of existences in that very same state and been reborn with equanimity, will attain final Nibbāna — for them, there, both the joy faculty will not arise and the femininity faculty will not arise.
