[1455] Conditioned by a phenomenon (dhamma) that is clung-to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniya), a phenomenon that is clung-to and subject to clinging arises by root condition (hetu-paccaya): conditioned by one aggregate (khandha) that is clung-to and subject to clinging, [there arise] three aggregates; at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), conditioned by the aggregates, the base (vatthu); conditioned by the base, the aggregates; conditioned by one primary element (mahābhūta), three primary elements; conditioned by the primary elements, materiality produced by kamma (kaṭattārūpa) that is derivative materiality (upādā-rūpa); conditioned by the base, the aggregates that are clung-to and subject to clinging.
Conditioned by a phenomenon that is clung-to and subject to clinging, a phenomenon that is not clung-to but subject to clinging (anupādinnupādāniya) arises by root condition: conditioned by the aggregates that are clung-to and subject to clinging, [there arises] mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa); conditioned by the base, the aggregates that are not clung-to but subject to clinging.
