[1434] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is clung to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniya), a phenomenon that is clung to and subject to clinging arises, by not-root condition (na-hetupaccaya): dependent on one rootless (ahetuka) aggregate that is clung to and subject to clinging, three aggregates arise; dependent on two aggregates, two aggregates arise. At the moment of rootless rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), dependent on one aggregate that is clung to and subject to clinging, three aggregates and kamma-produced materiality (kaṭattā-rūpa) arise; dependent on two aggregates, two aggregates and kamma-produced materiality arise; dependent on the aggregates, the base (vatthu) arises; dependent on the base, the aggregates arise; dependent on one great primary element (mahābhūta), three great primary elements arise; dependent on the great primary elements, kamma-produced materiality that is derivative materiality (upādā-rūpa) arises. For the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), dependent on one great primary element … dependent on the great primary elements, kamma-produced materiality that is derivative materiality arises.
Dependent on a phenomenon that is clung to and subject to clinging, a phenomenon that is not clung to but subject to clinging (anupādinnupādāniya) arises, by not-root condition: dependent on the rootless aggregates that are clung to and subject to clinging, mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) arises.
